Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge

Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge began as a “Tent City,” associated with the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway. Situated in Alberta’s magnificent Jasper National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the hotel opened in June 1922 with eight log cabins and the main building being billed as the largest single-story log structure in the world. Six films were shot on site from 1930-1946 with distinguished Hollywood stars, including Bing Crosby, Jimmy Stewart, and Marilyn Monroe. Crosby enjoyed the lodge’s golf course so much that he went on to win a tournament and had a cabin named after him. Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge has also hosted royalty, including both King George VI in 1939 and Queen Elizabeth II in 2005. Locally, there are a bevy of activities that will suit any guest.
